Smithe
Eugene’s passion with jewelry stems from a BFA degree from
Virginia
Commonwealth
University
. Her
leather slider
necklaces are popular with
any age group and create the perfect everyday jewelry option. Smithe
created the “slider” concept when she discovered a particular liking
to a special necklace and wanting to wear it
almost everyday. “Depending on the neckline of attire, it did not
always work- so I reformatted the necklace into a slider”, says Smithe.
One day it was a choker, the next day it was a long necklace, and
it was worn with other necklaces. Each
slider design has an individual character, as Smithe uses an ecliptic
variety of beads, mixed metals, and other vintage jewelry pieces -making
each slider unique and reasonably priced ($14-$40, average $20). Many
choose to purchase several sliders which can be worn at the same time-
creating individual “slider art”!
Wine
Leather Bolos are another
creation of Smithe
and an exclusive to the
gallery.
These leather and metal art pieces
accent a bottle of
wine and great for gift-giving
(forget the bag at
your next gathering!). Each
wine bolo sports a
unique design and typically
a mix of
metals including copper, silver, gold,
and brass with bead
and other metal accents.
